My body of work focuses on destinations and the anticipatory nostalgia they bring. Knowing that while you take in the swaying palms and swim in sparkling blue water you will long for this present moment. Despite currently sitting under the warm sun, you will miss hearing the sounds of seagulls and waves washing ashore come winter. It is a strange notion to miss something before it’s over, yet we’ve all experienced this feeling at one time or another. It’s hard to put into words how these moments make us feel. It’s easier to depict it in the scenes we long for. A painting of your favorite getaway transports you back to that moment in time; and this feeling comes rushing back. This kind of art provides a glimpse into the moments that remind us what happiness is and what happiness we felt at that time. Not only is my work an escape for me, but it can also be an escape for you too.
